Question Can anything help the Necro?

I am wondering if there is a permanent way to solve the Core Necro not being able to help build or guard or patrol withouth getting stuck or not being able to do it at all. I know I can put another unit guarding it so it will help repair the unit once it resurrects something, but what can you do about the guarding option it has one but It is worthless. Please if anyone knows of a way to solve this clue me in :-}

Have you tried the Necro Mk II? I understand it was meant to have fixed some of these bugs - try Unit Univerese.

TA Bugfix repairs most of the Necro's problems, although he still sometimes get stuck on units he just ressurrected. The bad news is it makes TA incompatible with people who don't have it, but if you're not playing online that shouldn't be a problem...

I have the new version of it. and I do play on line or ip games at the moment I used to play on BY. So this is all I can do there is no way I can change the file or anything and still use it? What exactly is the problem with the necro? I was told that it was the build number something about it being set at 0. Please there has to be more solutions than this.

The problem/s with the necro is it has a 0 builddistance because of a missing builddistance line in its fbi file, its COB script has similar bugs as the Core Adv. Const. Kbot (without TA Bugfix that is), and it probably even has a weapon assigned to it despite the problems that can cause with 3rd party conflicts.

ANY editing done to the Necro will guarentee that it will be unavailable in multiplayer UNLESS everyone has your exact version!

And BTW, the unit script fix in TA Bugfix for the Necro took me over 3 months to make.

Ok so is the bugfix for the necro in only the newest version or is it in an older one and if so what version does it start with? And what would be a good unit editor anyway I cant find one that works correctly.

The Necro has been fixed as of TA Bugfix v1.4.

I recommend using Wordpad for editing unit FBI files and Scriptor v0.7beta3 or later for unit scripts.

Switeck, don't you mean Notepad?

I find it much cleaner and easier, it lacks the ability to do many a nasty thing that Wordpad can do to your text, and it's plenty more than powerful enough to handle FBI editing.

Ok I have TA Bugfix 1.5 I think is the newest version and have used it. Only problem is that I have not noticed any difference in the way the necro is operating and I have 3 new folders in my Totala folder 1.Problems 2.Fixed Probles 3. Fixed Problems2; I am assuming these folders are part of TA Bugfix and have looked inside of them and have not seen any unit that is the necro inside but many others are in there. I guess my question is exactly what was the fix for the necro and should it be in one of the folders? If so what is the units name?

Tell the necro to try to guard a factory. If you're using the broke version by Cavedog, it'll give you warnings like "I can't get there" and stop.

CORNECRO.BOS is the script I used on the necro although that won't recompile into a COB file in Cobbler or the Brain unless you rewrite it slightly. It was meant to be used on Scriptor v0.73beta.

Hmmm. OK I do have the cavedog necro so should I get a different version or something and if so where can I get it and if I do get it will everyone else have it? I still have not been able to find that file that you mentioned. I know I sound like a total newbie, but I have just got into this unit stuff.

Get Cavedog's Necro unit from their site and replace that Necro's files with files of the same name in TA Bugfix. Use HPI to repack and you're done without having to edit anything.

Does anyone have like a overview of what a unit file is supposed to look like? If so could you send it to me via e-mail? I would also like to know what hpi program Switeck was talking about cause I D/L several the other night and I would like to know what everyone uses that has a easy interface? Also maybe some URL's on some of this stuff since alot of the old sites that had these programs has shut down.
